How To Save Money When Hiring a Cleaner For Your Office

Updated: Aug 8, 2019

Keeping your workplace clean can be a real time thief and quite costly. Are you're taking time out of your busy schedule to clean your office, taking you away from more important matters and having your productivity suffer? Maybe you have hired a full-time cleaner, costing you bucket loads which is cutting into your profits or even contracting a cleaning company that doesn't care about your business's needs and always seems to be missing things and adding to your stress.

Believe it or not, if you are, you're certainly not alone. Studies have shown that a clean work environment can increase productivity by as much as eight per cent! But getting a quality, consistent cleaning service can be a messy process.

Here are a few easy tips to save you time, money and stress:

1. Try to keep desks and benches uncluttered

This quick tip can save your cleaning providers time, which means more money kept in your pocket. Another plus to keeping an uncluttered desk is an increase in organization, leading to a cleaner mind and higher productivity!

2. Regular small cleans over irregular big cleans

This can also save you a tonne of money! Over time dust, grime and other nasties build up and become harder to remove, requiring more elbow grease and time. A chore done once a day or week takes you a fraction of the time it would take you to do once a month or once every six.

3. Know exactly what you want cleaned

Having you and your cleaning company understand exactly want you want can make a huge difference, especially if you have a specific budget. Your cleaners know exactly what you expect from the get-go and you can hold them accountable. Knowing exactly what you're paying for also helps to reduce breakdowns in communications. If you find that you want your cleaners to perform more services, let them know so they can add it to the service list and prepare you a revised invoice. Remember, most of the time you are paying for services not by the hour.

4. Talk to your Cleaning Company

If you ever see something that isn't quite done to your liking or the cleaners forget something, make sure to call them and tell them how you feel or leave them a note for next time. They love and need to know what is going on so they can continue to maintain the level of service you deserve and fix any problems you might be having. If they don't know, they can't fix it.

5. Go with a commercial cleaning company,  not a permanent employee.

This can save you bucket loads in the long run. Hiring a part or full-time employee for your cleaning duties can really make a dent in your budget. Sick days, Annual leave, DIL and insurance add up fast and as you may know, Cleaning staff are notoriously hard to keep. Outsourcing a cleaning provider turns a fixed cost into a variable cost! Hiring an established, highly regarded commercial cleaning company is a better option. The good ones live and breathe the cleaning game, It's their specialty and their company SHOULD want to provide the best possible services for their clients as happy clients means more work and referrals. Don't forget to check testimonials and reviews of the company.
